The Revelation of God’s Supernatural Power

For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?” (1 Corinthians 4:20KJV).

THE NEED FOR THE SUPERNATURAL.

Apart from walking in the Word, one of God’s chief concerns is raising a Church that operates in the supernatural power. Without a tangible manifestation of the supernatural in the house of God, the Church will be no different from a lecture room. The absence of the divine power births religion that plunges believers into a state of lukewarmness.

Without power, lives can neither be changed nor transformed. Words alone cannot adequately handle the problems crippling this generation. More than a marvellous display of oratory skills, men must see the power to be convicted and converted.

The biggest problem with the modern-day church is that it’s devoid of power: Going to church has become largely religious and prayer has become purely mechanical.   We have lost touch with the power of God. But what I find to be more aggravating is the realisation that we are not trouble at all. We have become too comfortable and engrossed in church programmes and events. Carnality has become our norm.

That is why God is restoring the apostolic and the prophetic ministries. Throughout the Apostolic Ministry, there is a remarkable emphasis on the demonstration of the divine power of God. Reading through the book of Acts, the Apostles witnessed the resurrection of Jesus, not just through Teaching, but also through power.

The Bible says, “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33KJV). Part of the calling of the apostolic ministry is centred on restoring and imparting the supernatural dimension upon the church.

THE CALL TO TARRY.

Without the supernatural power of God, do you think Moses would have been able to stand against Pharoah and his armies? How about Elijah at Mt Camel or Daniel in the lion’s den? And not forgetting Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego. Without the revelation of the power of God, they would have never withstood the forces that rose against them.

No amount of human wisdom or resources will be able to substitute the need for supernatural power in your life. If you are to overcome the Pharaohs in your life and walk out of the furnace you are in, you will need a tangible manifestation of the divine power in your life. But how do we get this power? The answer to this question was captured in the instruction our Lord Jesus gave his disciples before his ascension.

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).
